ANNAPOLIS // A top Democrat in the General Assembly has formed an exploratory committee to weigh a possible run for Maryland attorney general.

Del. Anthony G. Brown, D-Prince George's, the majority whip in the House, filed papers for the committee with the Maryland State Board of Elections Wednesday. Brown intends to announce whether he will run for the post before the legislative session begins in January.

"Right now, I am seriously considering running for attorney general," Brown said today.
